We've known about Windjammers 2, the long-awaited follow-up to Data East's frisbee-tossing arcade classic, for some time now - but, finally, we've a chance to see developer DotEmu's sequel in action, thanks to a newly unveiled alpha gameplay trailer.Windjammers originally released on Neo Geo in 1994, gifting the world with its raucously entertaining multiplayer take on brutal competitive frisbee action. Chicago’s Field Museum, one of the most well-stocked natural history museums on the planet, is home to a number of fascinating specimens. Among them is SUE the Tyrannosaurus rex — an opinionated apex predator, Dungeon Master, and a big fan of Red Dead Redemption 2. But SUE isn’t the only item in the Field’s collection with ties to video games. Today, the Field announced that it is also home to a newly-discovered species of prehistoric shark. Called Galagadon nordquistae, the creature was so named because its tiny teeth resemble the spaceships from the arcade classic Galaga. Gaming veterans will remember the Neo Geo video game console, which came with arcade-style controllers. SNK originally launched the console in 1990, which was almost three decades ago. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the Japanese company has announced the Neo Geo Mini. The SNK Corporation revealed the news via a Facebook post earlier today. It probably wants to re-introduce those classic games to a new generation of gamers, as well as cater to those who simply wish to relive their nostalgic childhood memories. It will arrive fully equipped with 40 iconic games hailing from the original Neo Geo system. SNK Neo Geo Mini: Features The Neo Geo Mini will feature a 3.5-inch display, which means that players will not require a TV or monitor to play games on the console. Heads up, '90s kids: Game Developers Conference 2018 organizers are thrilled to announce that a game industry veteran will be attending this year's show to present a rare behind-the-scenes look at the making of an arcade classic. Mark Turmell, a longtime game designer and programmer who's been making games since the '80s, will be at GDC 2018 in San Francisco this March to present a fascinating Classic Game Postmortem of NBA Jam! Released in 1993, Midway's NBA Jam is among the most influential arcade games of all time. Turmell served as lead designer and programmer on the original arcade game, and in his talk he plans to explain the vision behind the game, its role during the '90s arcade boom, and how the first ridiculously huge dunk changed the course of the game’s design.
