When one of the biggest names in computer software up and starts to develop consoles, it's not odd to think that said company would have its audience be able to play together on the two platforms, right? Hell, it actually seems like a likelihood. However, while we're not there yet, that doesn't mean that day isn't not coming. With Games for Windows Live closing, AusGamers decided to ask Microsoft Studio's General Manager, Phil Spencer, about the possibility for cross-play between PC and the company's next-gen gadget. His reply? "I'm not allowed to leak things [smiles]. But I think what you're talking about makes a lot of sense. Now you have differences in Windows gaming and console gaming around control and input... in fact if you go back to Shadow Run on Xbox 360 - something I worked on - we had PC players playing against Xbox 360 customers. We didn't have tremendous success with that, but we learnt a lot from it." Sometimes it's not what a person says that's so … [Read more...] about Cross-Play for PC and Xbox One in the Works from Microsoft?

Bandai Namco has released Tekken 7 patch 1.04 for both PS4 and Xbox One today. The new Tekken 7 patch weighs in around 740mb and while the developers haven’t released any patch notes so far like they did for previous patches, we can piece together most of the changes judging from the players who tried the game post-patch. The Tekken 7 patch 1.04 doesn’t seem to be filled with a lot of improvements and fixes when it comes to quality of life for the game however it does have some handful changes in the visual department. One of the most notable changes in patch 1.04 seems to be the restoration of black and other darker colors during customization. Even game Director Katsuhiro Harada talked about this change and mentioned that players will be able to use almost pure black colors but depending on the type of customization, it is possible that the end result might appear closer to gray. By Tom Bramwell Published 29/08/2001 Source - NGUK Forums A while ago NetGames UK cancelled their 0800 Internet dialup service. Could this, we speculated, be the beginning of the end? Apparently it was, because as forum posts over the last few days indicate, the entire core staff of the company has walked out, and although the servers remain, leagues and tournaments are being placed on hold pending further announcements from the company's managing director. The difficulty is that although voluntary admins remain in theoretical control of NGUK's gaming services, they only have game level administration rights, which limits them to kicking, banning, messaging players and very little else. Community admins have kept control of the IRC channels, but the big problem is that nobody is left who can physically access the servers, or even log in remotely. In the event of a patch (which given that a large number of the 239 NGUK game ports run Half-Life, Counter-Strike and Quake III is … [Read more...] about NGUK bites the dust?
By Wesley Yin-Poole Published 08/01/2016 The creator of a Kickstarter for a Star Wars open world role-playing game has pulled the project after enduring a week of ridicule on social media. 20-year-old Texan Devin Tripp launched the Kickstarter in the hope of raising $200,000 to create a Star Wars RPG "that will completely blow people away; like Fallout 4 or The Witcher 3 did". Tripp, who has no game development experience, had a dream, and hoped to hire people to help make it a reality. Copyright and trademarks be damned! The Kickstarter was mocked for the raft of typos and grammatical errors (which, dear reader, you never see on Eurogamer wot?) that littered the campaign text, such as "obi one kinobi". Then there was the sheer folly of it all: I am currently looking into talking with Disney if I am able to do this. If not then there might have to be a compromise on the name or some other parts. I need your help. I am not a very good programmer, and I'm an even worst artist. I want … [Read more...] about Star Wars open-world RPG Kickstarter bites the dust
By Wesley Yin-Poole Published 20/07/2016 Twitch has banned one of its biggest streamers as the crackdown on Counter-Strike gambling websites continues. James "PhantomL0rd" Varga, who with 1.3m followers was the seventh biggest streamer on Twitch, has seen his channel closed following accusations he rigged Counter-Strike: Global Offensive gambling rolls on-stream. PhantomL0rd is perhaps the most high-profile video game personality to see an account suspension as a result of the ongoing CS:GO gambling scandal, which has already embroiled YouTube stars Trevor "TmarTn" Martin and Tom "Syndicate" Cassell. But while TmarTn and Syndicate have continued to make videos with little impact on their YouTube channels, PhantomL0rd's career as a streamer appears over. PhantomL0rd was accused of rigging CS:GO rolls on a website called CSGO Shuffle. Skype logs obtained by investigative YouTuber Richard Lewis strongly suggest PhantomL0rd part-owns the website - ownership he has failed to disclose - … [Read more...] about One of the biggest Twitch streamers bites the dust as Valves CS:GO gambling crackdown continues

The next Mass Effect game will likely come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It might be a sequel to Mass Effect 3. It might be a prequel to the whole series. But it’s nearly guaranteed it will take place in the same universe. BioWare created a massive world full of races and technology and culture to use it. And there’s so much more to explore in it. Each Mass Effect game can be an entry point into the series, but unlike a lot of games, having played the previous ones can actually determine large portions of the story and characters for you, since the choices carry over to each sequel. The amount of familiarity you have with the world, influences your choices in each game. To a Mass Effect veteran, playing all the games in order is vital to your investment into the story. That, coupled with a new generation of consoles and people who play games, means BioWare should spend the time and resources … [Read more...] about Why PS4 and Xbox One need the Mass Effect trilogy
