Between Guilty Gear, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Blazblue, Arc System Works has established itself as one of the best developers of fighting games on the market, but the studio is looking for another big mainstream hit with a recognizable IP. At EVO 2022, Arc System Works CEO Minoru Kidooka explained how the studio is looking to pursue new opportunities by contacting IP rights holders, instead of passively waiting for an opportunity to fall into its hands. "We need to expand fighting game communities through IP," Kidooka said to IGN . "In the future, if we have such an opportunity, we are actively pushing to collaborate with new IP owners." A new PC mod for Skyrim has added a take on the Nemesis system, giving players the chance to create an adversary from almost any hostile creature in the game. While the mod doesn't work with key characters, it can turn run-of-the-mill mudcrabs, Draugr, and dragons into high-level opponents who'll steal your gear and gain buffs in the process. Created by Syclonix and directly inspired by Shadow of Mordor's iconic system--as well as roguelikes and other modern RPG ideas--the mod works by leveling up any enemy that kills you, giving them an extra perk, and applying a debuff to you. They'll also run off with your weapon, and the only way to get the debuff removed and your equipment back is to hunt down your new best frenemy. The mod does create a quest for you to track, so you won't have to worry about not being able to find the mudcrab that inflicted a curse on you and made off with your favorite sword. Today we got our first look at what the studio's getting up to for its first project under the Krafton flag, and it is not another Subnautica game. Season 34 of The Simpsons will feature an anime parody of the popular anime and manga Death Note. Simpsons showrunner Matt Selman shared this information with Deadline . The parody will appear as one of the long-running show's stories told in this year's "Treehouse of Horror" episode. Speaking with Variety , Selman added that the Death Note parody was animated by "an entirely different studio" and is "incredibly authentic Simpsons anime." Selman added, "I really think people [are] gonna freak out over that. We're not trying to take on every single anime, it's an unbelievably rich and diverse genre within itself.. it's just one beloved thing, this show Death Note." Loot boxes in Overwatch will no longer be available for purchase following the conclusion of the game's Anniversary Remix Vol. 3 event on August 30, Blizzard has confirmed. While players won't be able to purchase loot boxes directly after the aforementioned date, loot boxes can still be earned through leveling up and other in-game activities for the next few months, a Blizzard blog post states. All loot boxes in a player's inventory will automatically open prior to the launch of Overwatch 2 on October 4. The news comes as part of the shooter's final Anniversary Remix event, which is now live. Like the two previous Anniversary Remix events , Vol. 3 brings a rotation of all the game's seasonal event brawls, exclusive recolors of various skins, and a return of formerly one-time event skins that can be earned by playing matches. Iconic actor Ray Liotta has died at the age of 67. Deadline was first to report details, which so far only includes the context that Liotta died May 25 in his sleep in the Dominican Republic--where he was shooting the film Dangerous Waters. Liotta is survived by his daughter Karsen Liotta. He was engaged to be married to Jacy Nittolo. The storied performer worked steadily in TV and film since 1978, though is most often remembered for his role in 1990's Goodfellas. In 2021, Liotta told The Guardian he was well aware of the public still largely associating him with the film, which was an adaptation of the 1985 non-fiction book Wiseguy written by Nicholas Pileggi. The book chronicles the rise and fall of mob associate Henry Hill and his friends and family. I'd suffered through too many bad Predator movies to get excited about Prey, but now I'm an evangelist spreading the good news: this is the best Predator movie since Arnie flexed his muscles in the jungle. It's striking but understated, leaving plenty of room between the lavish violence to build tension and develop not just Naru, played by the superb Amber Midthunder, but her alien adversary as well.
