Between Guilty Gear, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Blazblue, Arc System Works has established itself as one of the best developers of fighting games on the market, but the studio is looking for another big mainstream hit with a recognizable IP. At EVO 2022, Arc System Works CEO Minoru Kidooka explained how the studio is looking to pursue new opportunities by contacting IP rights holders, instead of passively waiting for an opportunity to fall into its hands. "We need to expand fighting game communities through IP," Kidooka said to IGN . "In the future, if we have such an opportunity, we are actively pushing to collaborate with new IP owners." Arc is no stranger to collaborations, as it developed the award-winning Dragon Ball FighterZ, a 3DS One Piece game, 2012's Persona 4 Arena, and 2020's Granblue Fantasy Versus. Kidooka added that the studio's original Guilty Gear and BlazBlue games won't be forgotten about as the developer aims to work on an IP planned and developed in the US, … [Read more...] about Arc System Works Wants To Actively Pursue New IP Collaborations

This Skyrim Mod Adds a Mordor-Inspired Nemesis System To The Game
A new PC mod for Skyrim has added a take on the Nemesis system, giving players the chance to create an adversary from almost any hostile creature in the game. While the mod doesn't work with key characters, it can turn run-of-the-mill mudcrabs, Draugr, and dragons into high-level opponents who'll steal your gear and gain buffs in the process. Created by Syclonix and directly inspired by Shadow of Mordor's iconic system--as well as roguelikes and other modern RPG ideas--the mod works by leveling up any enemy that kills you, giving them an extra perk, and applying a debuff to you. They'll also run off with your weapon, and the only way to get the debuff removed and your equipment back is to hunt down your new best frenemy. The mod does create a quest for you to track, so you won't have to worry about not being able to find the mudcrab that inflicted a curse on you and made off with your favorite sword. They can run, but they cannot hide. You can have up to five antagonists active … [Read more...] about This Skyrim Mod Adds a Mordor-Inspired Nemesis System To The Game
Overwatch Loot Box Sales Will End August 30
Loot boxes in Overwatch will no longer be available for purchase following the conclusion of the game's Anniversary Remix Vol. 3 event on August 30, Blizzard has confirmed. While players won't be able to purchase loot boxes directly after the aforementioned date, loot boxes can still be earned through leveling up and other in-game activities for the next few months, a Blizzard blog post states. All loot boxes in a player's inventory will automatically open prior to the launch of Overwatch 2 on October 4. The news comes as part of the shooter's final Anniversary Remix event, which is now live. Like the two previous Anniversary Remix events , Vol. 3 brings a rotation of all the game's seasonal event brawls, exclusive recolors of various skins, and a return of formerly one-time event skins that can be earned by playing matches. Once Overwatch 2 arrives, it will be ditching the first game's loot box system in favor of a battle pass and the ability to purchase cosmetics … [Read more...] about Overwatch Loot Box Sales Will End August 30

As the first melee catalyst-user, this Tenryou detective is one of the most fun-looking characters to arrive in Teyvat for quite some time. He may only be a four-star character, but Heizou feels pretty distinctive, kicking and punching the hell out of ne'er do wells with the power of the wind. He's like a cross between Sherlock Holmes and one of those fighting police detectives that you see in old martial arts movies. As is pretty typical for Anemo characters, Heizou's abilities centre around infusing his attacks and Windmuster Kick with other … [Read more...] about The best builds for Heizou in Genshin Impact

Within days, Russia had broken into the city, ransacked homes, and massacred over a thousand people (opens in new tab) , according to reporting by the BBC and other outlets covering the war. "We woke up in the morning and heard explosions. They killed a lot of people on the streets that were trying to find food," Nikita says. Windows Defender is reportedly hindering performance on Intel CPUs
Audio player loading… Developer Kevin Glynn, aka "Uncle Webb," has discovered a weird Windows Defender bug that causes Intel CPUs to suffer a significant performance hit on Windows 10 or 11. According to a Tech Power Up report (opens in new tab) , the bug causes Windows Defender to "randomly start using all seven hardware performance counters provided by Intel Core processors." That wouldn't be a big problem, according to Tech Power Up, except that Defender is randomly changing the privilege level of the counters—setting them to "mode 2"—which puts it in conflict with other software that's trying to use the counter in its typical state, "mode 3." Uncle Webb saw his Intel Core i9 10850K take a 6% performance dip in Cinebench; he claims this can affect users with Intel Core CPUs from 2008 and on. Other instances saw Defender dinging CPU performance by around 4%. He did not see any issues on AMD Ryzen CPUs. The wild thing is that there is no way to predict when … [Read more...] about Windows Defender is reportedly hindering performance on Intel CPUs
