World of Warcraft's upcoming patch 9.2.5 for its current Shadowlands expansion will introduce a number of changes to Blizzard's MMO, among them a social contract that players will need to accept upon logging in for the first time once the update is live. The new contract is now fully visible on the game's public test realm (via Wowhead ), where players need to scroll down to the button of the contract and accept it or exit the game entirely. While the contract certainly outlines behavior that is against the game's terms of service, such as hate speech, harassment, in-game advertising, and other "disruptive" behaviors, it also encourages players to play as a team, make friends, and help answer questions new players may have. Take-Two on a potential buyout: “We like being an independent organization”
Video game companies are being acquired by bigger video game companies at a frightening pace, but it sounds like Rockstar and 2K parent company Take-Two Interactive will remain independent for the time being. In an interview with IGN , Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed some hesitation about a buyout in general while acknowledging that the interests of the company's shareholders are most important. "We're a public company, and we're here for the shareholders," Zelnick said. "That said, our track record of creating value as an independent enterprise is pretty terrific, especially if you exclude the last three months. We think there's plenty of great times ahead, and we like being an independent organization. But we're here for the shareholders." Dune’s new-gen open-world survival game resurfaces with new details
Funcom has revealed a few more details on its open world survival game set in the Dune universe, which will be the studio's "most ambitious project yet." The devs are currently referring to this as the "unannounced Dune survival game," which was previously confirmed as part of a three-game deal between Funcom and Legendary Entertainment signed back in 2019 . The game will be set on Arrakis, and will be focused on multiplayer. Similar to other recent informal game announcements, like Blizzard's survival game and the mobile Call of Duty: Warzone spin-off, Project Aurora , today's announcement seems to be more an effort to recruit new developers than news meant to get players excited.
