The first Hellboy trailer has debuted but it may be a while before you get to see it if you weren't around to witness all the New York Comic Con trailers (opens in new tab) yourself. A panel featuring the film's cast and crew gathered also served to debut the new Comic Con-exclusive trailer (though star David Harbour reportedly said it wasn't really a trailer , per se). Even though we can't watch it firsthand, we can still get an idea of what it was like from the lucky few who did get to experience it. David Harbour's take on Hellboy is going over well If you're a fan of Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy films, your first concern is probably how David Harbour's performance as the burly red demon dude compares to Ron Perlman's. It sounds like this movie is taking a different approach to the character - embracing more of the comics series' quirky humor - which helps Harbour's performance stand on its own. Saw the teaser trailer for #Hellboy at #NYCC (will not be online). It … [Read more...] about “Action, humor and attitude” – the best reactions to the Hellboy trailer shown at New York Comic Con 2018

Final Fantasy 16’s Naoki Yoshida thinks the new action gameplay is good for the entire series
The producer of Final Fantasy 16 says that the game will lend "a helping hand" to players who aren't fans of action games. Speaking to GamesRadar+, Naoki Yoshida explains that the breadth of combat options available throughout the entire Final Fantasy series means that "it's impossible to put together what every single fan wants into a single Final Fantasy game." On top of that, catering to "a completely new generation of gamers" means that Square Enix is looking to combine a classic-feeling setting with "real-time action that's more reminiscent of modern games." "Of course," Yoshida continues," we know that there are a lot of players out there who may not excel at action games. But those players do not need to worry, because we have been developing systems and developing in-game features that will lend a helping hand to those players." The director didn't outline what those features might look like, but did say that "we have a lot of confidence in these systems. And we … [Read more...] about Final Fantasy 16’s Naoki Yoshida thinks the new action gameplay is good for the entire series
Exploring Final Fantasy 16’s action battle system with producer Naoki Yoshida
When Clive Rosfield hits the battlefield in the latest Final Fantasy 16 Dominance trailer (opens in new tab) , a barrage of attacks explode onto the screen. It's a spectacle, with the protagonist propelling up into the air with an enemy and swiftly inflicting damage thanks to the wind elemental powers of Geruda. Shortly before, another array of attacks casts fire-infused blows at foes by channelling the powers of the Phoenix summon. Final Fantasy 16's combat looks fast, frenetic, and undoubtedly action-packed, with Clive responding in real-time to the player's inputs – making use of a host of different swappable Eikon abilities. Our first proper look at the combat in Final Fantasy 16 highlighted a marked deviation from the classic turn-based and command-based combat of older games in the series. Developer Square Enix knows this shift will split opinion but, as producer Naoki Yoshida tells me, appealing to every fan that the Final Fantasy series has picked over the last 35 … [Read more...] about Exploring Final Fantasy 16’s action battle system with producer Naoki Yoshida
15 biggest games still missing in action after E3 2022
The biggest showcases of E3 2022 have now drawn to a close. And while we've been treated to dozens of pretty cinematic trailers, promising gameplay reveals, remakes and reworkings over the last several days – not least during the Xbox and Bethesda Games event, and Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest – there are plenty of games that, for one reason or another, failed to peak their heads above the development trenches. We've already highlighted the 10 Xbox Series X exclusives that weren't shown during the Xbox Bethesda Games Showcase , but here we take a broader look at the big-hitters and most intriguing projects that we'd have loved to have seen more of, but sadly didn't. Without further ado, here are 15 of the biggest games posted missing at E3 2022. God of War: Ragnarok Given Sony and Santa Monica Studio's much-anticipated follow-up to 2017's God of War is still, at the time of writing, scheduled to arrive this year, it seems pretty incredible we didn't see at … [Read more...] about 15 biggest games still missing in action after E3 2022
The other five Indiana Jones films
So, Kingdom Of The Crystal Skulls, is it Lucasfilm? For shame – we would much rather watch one of the following. Maybe. 1. Indiana Jones And The City Of Gods THE PLOT: THE ACTION SEQUENCE: THE WISECRACK: 2. Indiana Jones And The Fourth Corner Of The Earth THE PLOT: THE ACTION SEQUENCE: WISECRACK: actually freeze Hell . When the flames of Hell have crystallised into ice cubes, Indy tuns to Shia, jabs his thumb over his shoulder and says: ‘That doesn’t count.’ 3. The new Indiana Jones trailer is here!
It’s been a long wait for fans of the world’s most famous archaeologist, but it’s inched close to the finish line as the new trailer (opens in new tab) for Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull has finally arrived. And it was worth every second of anticipation. We didn't quite expect to see this much action in the first trailer, but this really does have it all, including a classy Spielberg reveal for our hero, a truck stunt which looks like it left Harrison Ford picking fake glass out of places he probably didn’t want it, some good old-fashioned whip-swinging and... Oh, we know you’re not reading this any longer. Just go watch the thing and kick off the “it rocked!” “It sucked!” arguments in the forums. For the record, we think it rocks harder than a rolling boulder. Source: ( Yahoo Movies (opens in new tab) ) … [Read more...] about The new Indiana Jones trailer is here!
Resident Evil’s Milla Jovovich ditches zombies to be Hellboy’s witch
If there’s some sort of award for services to the sci-fi action genre, Milla Jovovich should be on next year’s list. Not content with making the lead role in the Resident Evil movies entirely her own, Deadline (opens in new tab) reports that she’s now signed up to play Nimue the Blood Queen in the new Hellboy (opens in new tab) reboot. Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen swaps gruff-voiced Ron Perlman for David Harbour, who you’ll probably recognize as the weary cop from Stranger Things (or at least you would, if he wasn’t going to be playing this role under a thick layer of prosthetics and red paint). It’ll be directed by Neil Marshall, who made his name with the ultra-bleak spelunking horror The Descent back in 2005. More recently he’s directed episodes of HBO’s Westworld and Game Of Thrones, and is rumored to be on board for a future King Kong film, Skull Island: Blood of the Kong. Nimue the Blood Queen is a classic villain from the Hellboy series, and made her first … [Read more...] about Resident Evil’s Milla Jovovich ditches zombies to be Hellboy’s witch
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon returns in new IDW series
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have seen quite a few iterations, but none have been as popular or beloved as the iconic '80s cartoon that introduced the characters to the world at large. Now, IDW will publish Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Saturday Morning Adventures, a four-issue limited series by Erik Burnham and Tim Lattie that adapts the animated series for comics. Saturday Morning Adventures will try to capture the aesthetic of the series that debuted in 1987 featuring "awesomely absurd" concepts like the Turtles getting trapped in a VR simulator, or "one of General Krang's stalwart stone soldiers abandoning their post in pursuit of hair-metal superstardom." The new series comes on the heels of the recent completion of IDW's TMNT: The Last Ronin limited series on the opposite end of the "aesthetic" spectrum. That was a Mature Readers look at the last Turtles story featuring the deaths of all four brothers. "I'm no stranger to writing the TMNT for IDW, but this is … [Read more...] about The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon returns in new IDW series
Best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stories
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - heroes on the half-shell! Turtle power! If you're a fan of a certain age, you read those words with a very specific cadence and rhythm in your mind, from the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon theme song of the late '80s and early '90s. Younger fans will have their own touchstones for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who have never been out of the public eye in some form of media or other for very long. But the entire TMNT media empire all started with comic books. And over all those decades, comic books have remained the heart and soul of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Case in point - the just-concluded TMNT: The Last Ronin comic book limited series in which the lone surviving Turtle Michelangelo embarks on a mission of revenge for his dead brothers. But that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to great TMNT comic book stories (or the tip of the sai, for a more TMNT-appropriate idiom). Read on for our … [Read more...] about Best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stories
Ghost of Tsushima 2 is looking more and more likely as new job listings emerge
Ghost of Tsushima developer Sucker Punch is hiring, and fans are suspicious that it could be to work on a follow-up to its Samurai action game. As highlighted in this ResetEra (opens in new tab) thread, Sucker Punch is currently looking for a Technical Combat Designer (opens in new tab) and a Senior Combat Designer (opens in new tab) to work at its Washington-based studio. Both roles ask for applicants to have "played previously shipped Sucker Punch titles" meaning the likes of Ghost of Tsushima , the Infamous series, or Sly Cooper. Both Sly Cooper and Infamous have been rumoured to be making some kind of comeback for a few years now, with the last piece of evidence towards a Sly game being just a month ago when several leakers came forward with claims that we will be getting some kind of Sly Cooper 5 reveal in September of this year. As for Infamous, there were rumors surrounding an Infamous reveal in September 2021 , but nothing has materialized as of … [Read more...] about Ghost of Tsushima 2 is looking more and more likely as new job listings emerge
