Table of Contents 1. Olive & Forest One of the brightest people I ever met once handed me a book. He said that it would be one of the most important things I would ever read. That book? The Design of Everyday Things by Don Norman. And he was absolutely correct. I hadn’t heard of it at the time, but within many industries, it is considered the seminal text for understanding not only the importance of design, but the core ethos behind it. Norman identifies two main problems with humanity’s collective approach to design. The first is the brazen way designers often ignore user experience while chasing the goal of creating endless capabilities. The second problem is the way those designers capitalize on human beings’ natural instinct to blame themselves for not understanding an object or interaction with an overly complicated design. But making something easier to use should not just be some placating act of kindness; it should be the actual point of the design … [Read more...] about Red Dead Redemption 2: six months later

That's right everyone, your favorite Overwatch hero Hanzo just got a buff to his scatter arrow! Wait, why are you throwing rotten fruit? Please stop. Jokes aside, it does indeed seem as though the Overwatch devs have in fact accidentally buffed Hanzo's scatter arrow, making it much more effective than before. How, you may ask, have they managed to make Hanzo's already overpowered ability that much more powerful? Well, instead of 10 seconds needing to pass before you can use the ability, the delay is now 8 seconds. Hanzo's scatter arrow ability can often lead to some funny moments depending on if you're playing Hanzo, or the poor victim who dared get close to him when he has his ability ready. It has been known to instant-kill most squishy characters like Tracer and Sombra, but even if you're playing a Tank you shouldn't consider yourself safe. Yes, that's right, even Orisa can die to a ricochet of arrows if she's not positioned correctly. This fact has led to many fans demanding a … [Read more...] about Overwatch Devs Accidentally Buff Hanzo’s Scatter Arrow
A recent Twitch stream has stoked the fire of Modern Warfare 2 Remastered rumors that have persisted over the last few weeks. This time it is Activision Editorial Manager Kevin Kelly who is fanning the flames, revealing that the company will be making a big announcement in March. Given the general consensus that a Modern Warfare 2 Remaster could be in the cards, it’s no surprise that many like-minded gamers took his statement to be a subtle hint towards a looming reveal. The rumors of a Modern Warfare 2 remaster have built steam ever since an accidental listing on Amazon suggested a Modern Warfare 2 remaster would release on April 30, 2018. This would be far from the first time a remaster has been leaked by a premature retail listing, and the success that Activision had with the remaster of Modern Warfare almost begs for more remasters to be made. Still, Activision has yet to confirm the existence of a Modern Warfare 2 remaster in the first place, … [Read more...] about Activision Announcing Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Next Week?
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds ushered in the era of the battle royale genre, so it should be no surprise that it’s the third highest grossing game on Steam. The online multiplayer game also has several tournaments that frequently occur, as PUBG Corporation wants to make the game a popular eSport. However, the eSports scene is not without controversy, as OpTic Gaming was stripped of its second-place finish in a recent tournament after officials ruled one of its players abused a glitch. For those unaware of OpTic Gaming, it’s a professional American eSports organization that has teams in Call of Duty, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Gears of War, League of Legends, Dota 2, Overwatch, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. The player in question, Ian “Bahawaka” Crowe, suggests that it was an accident, but nevertheless, it cost the team $12,000 in prize money. The glitch occurred during game eight of the PUBG Invitational at IEM Katowice … [Read more...] about PUBG Pro Team Disqualified for Accidental Glitch During Tournament
There are many bad places to visit on the web, ones that will leave your PC infected if you're not careful. To protect users from these insidious destinations, Comcast has baked a "protected browsing" feature into its Xfinity XFi broadband service. Unfortunately, it sometimes acts too aggressively and blocks access to legitimate sites. This has largely flown under the radar, but with net neutrality rules on their way out, we're hoping this is not a precursor to a hobbled internet. That's probably being a little hysterical, at least for now. Or maybe not. Either way, Comcast's protected browsing feature continues to aggressively filter out sites that don't always need it. TorrentFreak is the latest portal for fall prey to the filter. The site reports that a reader alerted it to the fact that it is now being flagged as "suspicious." TorrentFreak is not a pirating site, though it does report on pirating and copyright news. Comcast's block seems to be based on controversial content, and … [Read more...] about Comcast’s protected browsing tool found to sometimes ‘accidentally’ block Steam and Paypal
