Here, I saw a frame rate range of 67-84fps on Highest at 4K with all of the extra Nvidia effects switched off, resulting in an average of 75fps. The Asus TUF OC, meanwhile, came in with 60-74fps for an average of 67fps. Again, these two results will look much the same without the aid of a high refresh rate monitor, but the extra headroom available on the MSI does mean it can handle those extra TurfEffects and HairWorks options much more effectively. Whereas the Asus managed a still very impressive average of 59fps with these two settings enabled on 4K Highest (ranging from 53-66fps overall), the MSI raised that average to 62fps thanks to its tighter range of 57-67fps. As for chucking in its super tough VXAO and Shadowlibs setting as well, the MSI came out on top here, too, its 48-57fps speeds resulting in a much higher average of 52fps compared to the Asus’ 47fps. … [Read more...] about MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio review

Palit GeForce RTX 2060 StormX – £270 from Overclockers UK Zotac GeForce RTX 2060 – $310 from Newegg Alas, despite the arrival of Nvidia’s new RTX 30-series, the price of the RTX 2060 has remained exactly the same this week. The RTX 2060 is still a better buy than both the GTX 1660 Ti and RTX 2060 Super right now, but you should probably wait to see if Nvidia announce their inevitable RTX 3060 before buying. If you can’t wait, this is a great GPU for hitting well over 60fps on Ultra settings at 1080p, and it’s currently our top Nvidia pick for the best 1440p graphics card on a budget. To see how it stacks up, have a read of my GTX 1660 Ti vs RTX 2060 article. … [Read more...] about Graphics card deals of the week – 7th October 2020
In the company's own words, this is to make "more cards available on launch day". This is seemingly a clear nod of recognition at the somewhat chaotic release and pre-order situation that came with the release of the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 card which sold out in moments. … [Read more...] about RTX 3070 graphics card launch delayed by Nvidia to ensure “more cards available”
As for 1440p, my top picks at the moment are AMD’s RX 5700 XT and Nvidia’s RTX 2070 for flawless 60fps gaming on max settings at this resolution, but this will likely change once the RTX 3070 and we know a bit more about AMD’s upcoming Big Navi cards. Right now, AMD’s RX 5600 XT and Nvidia’s RTX 2060 will also do you just fine at this resolution if you’re happy with Medium to High quality at this resolution. This makes the RX 5600 XT quite a good card to go for at the moment, especially if you currently have a 1080p monitor but are thinking about upgrading to a 1440p in the near future. … [Read more...] about Black Friday 2020 graphics card deals: all the best early GPU deals
