The Last of Us
Not too long ago, it was confirmed that The Last of Us: Part 2 will be a part of Sony’s PlayStation E3 2018 press conference, with fans understandably hoping that the forthcoming survival horror title will receive an official release date in 2018. However, should Days Gone‘s creative director John Garvin be correct, then it appears as if the PS4 exclusive from Naughty Dog could be launching at some point next year. This much was intimated during a recent interview Garvin held with Game Informer, in which the Days Gone creative director offered a plethora of gameplay details about the forthcoming action-adventure release from Bend Studio. At about the halfway point of the discussion, though, the interviewer asked Garvin if “[Days Gone] is coming out before The Last of Us: Part 2,” with the developer succinctly saying, “Yes.”For those unaware, Days Gone is currently slated to release at some point in early 2019, so if Garvin’s statement is … [Read more...] about The Last of Us: Part 2 Releasing Next Year?
It has been said before that there is no new thing under the sun. This can definitely be attributed to video games, as most, if not all titles are either influenced by previously released products – whether consciously or unknowingly – or they contain similar ideas that remain prevalent or consistent within a genre. Speaking of this concept, many fans are already lobbing out comparisons between Days Gone and The Last of Us to say that they’re the same, despite the former not even being released. This has led to John Garvin, the creative director of Sony and Bend Studio’s forthcoming action-adventure game, to state that it is not like Naughty Dog’s survival-horror title. This much was declared during a recent interview between Garvin and Game Informer, in which the Days Gone creative director was asked if he was “sick of Last of Us comparisons”, with Garvin simply saying, “Yes.” The interviewer then pressed the issue to say, … [Read more...] about Days Gone is Nothing Like The Last of Us, Says Director
As if it needed to be said, The Last of Us is generally considered to be one of the top video games of the last generation, with its Part 2 sequel easily being one of the most exciting exclusives in the works for PlayStation 4. Such admiration for these titles are due in no small part to the work of their director, Neil Druckmann, who is now being promoted to the position of Vice President of the developer Naughty Dog. This much has been shared by an official blog post from Naughty Dog President Evan Wells, who stated that The Last of Us director has been “a vital part of the management team for some time,” and the decision to promote Druckman was done to recognize “his expanded role, [for] contributing on critical, studio level decisions.” According to Wells, this promotion won’t change Druckmann’s status as the Creative Director for The Last of Us: Part 2. In addition to Druckmann’s newfound position as Vice President of Naughty Dog, Wells … [Read more...] about The Last of Us Director Promoted to Naughty Dog Vice President
The Last of Us movie has been stuck in developmental limbo for some time now. If Naughty Dog director Neil Druckmann has his way, he'd want it to stay there - unless considerable changes were made to the last script he saw. "We used to just be excited – 'Oh my god, movies are looking at us' – but then as more time passes on we're not excited about a direct adaptation because we've already told that story very well cinematically," reveals Druckmann during a DICE Summit panel about storytelling (via Glixel) For Druckmann, The Last of Us movie wouldn't work because, if it were a re-telling, it would tread all over the iconic work laid down by Troy Baker as Joel and Ashley Johnson as Ellie. It would be very disorienting to see someone else in that role," Druckmann says. Druckmann believes the direction the Uncharted movie is headed down is the path for any potential The Last of Us movie to follow. "[Director Shawn Levy] wanting … [Read more...] about Naughty Dog Director “Not Excited” About The Last of Us Movie
