Several months ago, the retiring president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, explained to Red Dead Redemption 2 fans why Rockstar Games’ open world action-adventure epic is currently not a Nintendo Switch release. Now, though, should a recent piece of supposedly leaked information by Target Australia be accurate, then RDR2 could very well be coming to the Big N’s hybrid mobile console at some point in the future. This much has been discovered on page 12 of Target Australia’s latest catalogue, with the retailer listing Red Dead Redemption 2 as being available on its current platforms of PlayStation 4 and Xbox, as well as on the Nintendo Switch. Following this particular find, Target has since updated the listing in its online catalogue to reflect a change that removes the Switch as one of the game’s supported platforms, with it now only showing Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox One and PS4. Bearing in mind the subsequent … [Read more...] about Rumor: Red Dead Redemption 2 for Switch Leaked By Target
Arguably 2018’s biggest game was Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar’s epic-scale open world western that won numerous awards and stands as the best-selling game of 2018. Even so, Red Dead Redemption 2‘s potential audience is somewhat limited by the fact that the game is only available on PS4 and Xbox One, but that could change in the near future. Prior to its GDC 2019 keynote address, Google showed a series of images that some believe are hinting at third-party game releases for its ambitious Stadia platform. One graphic features a cowboy hat, a cowboy boot, saloon doors, a horse, and a cactus, leading to speculation that Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to Stadia. After all, Red Dead Redemption 2 features these elements prominently, and while one could argue that Google is teasing any kind of western game, it’s worth pointing out that Red Dead is one of the only westerns on the market. However, the other images that Google … [Read more...] about Red Dead Redemption 2 Teased for Google Stadia?
In an open world multiplayer game like Red Dead Redemption 2‘s Red Dead Online, griefing is a major issue. Rockstar Games has managed to tone down griefing in Grand Theft Auto 5 through the popular “passive mode” feature, but at the time of writing, Red Dead Online has no such option. And while a full-blown passive mode is still not confirmed for Red Dead Online, a future update will add a feature that is somewhat similar and should alleviate some frustration. In a Red Dead Online update coming this spring, Rockstar will be introducing Offensive and Defensive modes. Offensive is the current Red Dead Online experience, meaning players will need to retreat to camp and raise the white flag to be completely safe from other players. Defensive, meanwhile, makes it impossible for players to be lassoed by others online, and it also makes it significantly harder to be killed as it removes critical hits. Those playing with the Defensive play style will also be … [Read more...] about Red Dead Online Update Will Add Passive Mode-Like Feature
On March 18, the servers for both GTA Online and Red Dead Online went down for unknown reasons. Rockstar Games acknowledged the outage on its official support page, with the issues impacting the games on all platforms. Additionally, Rockstar has confirmed that its Social Club services are also down. At the time of this writing, Rockstar hasn’t revealed what exactly caused the servers for both GTA Online and Red Dead Online to go down. It also hasn’t offered a timeline of when fans can expect the services for both games to be restored. For now, fans of the popular open world games will have to stick to their single-player content if they want to play. Of course, the experiences offered in GTA Online and Red Dead Online are quite different than the gameplay fans can expect from the single player offerings in the Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 base games. In fact, they’re often considered completely separate entities by Rockstar, as … [Read more...] about GTA Online, Red Dead Online Both Down
Red Dead Redemption 2 recently received update 1.06, and it has left some fans unhappy and scratching their heads. The new update for the critically-acclaimed open world western Red Dead Redemption 2 seemingly removes ambient occlusion, which basically amounts to more realistic lighting. The graphical downgrade was not announced by Rockstar Games ahead of time, but was noticed by a fan on Twitter. Darealbandicoot posted comparison photos of the same scene in Red Dead Redemption 2 to show the downgrade. With the ambient occlusion removed, it makes it seem as though certain objects in the environment have less detail than they did before the patch. Some may have trouble noticing a difference, but it’s understandable why those that do are bothered by the downgrade, as it can become very distracting. Rockstar hasn’t released any statement about the apparent graphical downgrade for Red Dead Redemption 2, so it’s unclear why it chose to do this. After all, … [Read more...] about Red Dead Redemption 2 Update Downgrades Single Player Graphics
