The man behind Battlegrounds, Brendan Greene has confirmed that he won’t be working on PUBG 2. That doesn’t mean he won’t continue to update PUBG itself, since he has stated that he has plans for that. As for future endeavors though, he plans to look beyond the Battle Royale genre of gaming. “I’ve done battle royale, it’s time to try something else. There are ideas about how we connect to people and how we provide the different experiences I have.” Greene is still the head of PUBG Corp, specifically spear-heading a project called PUBG Special Projects. This division is dedicated to keeping PUBG fresh for future. I suppose that’s a good alternative to compensate for a sequel. PUBG continues to struggle in India as it faces a ban but now the game is being held responsible for turning children into psychopaths according to Navbharat Times. One of the first battle royale games has turned out to be a massive success in India (one of the biggest markets) but it’s now going down due to the recent incidents. There have been more than 16 arrests of people who played the game despite knowing that it’s banned. One kid even took a stance against it by taking Tencent Holdings Ltd. to court for including cyberbullying and violence. No other country has resisted the game like India and it’s banned in many cities due to the orders of national child rights commission. While this can be used to describe Tencent gaming and its ambitious game Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, the first quarter of 2019 would have you see this a bit differently. The battle royale genre that was once the domain of Pubg, now another contender has thrown its hat into the ring. Respawn entertainment’s Apex Legends seems to have owned up to its namesake as it has dominated the genre with a reported 50 million players that have signed into the game. The main selling point to players for both Fortnite and Apex Legends is free to play element of the game. In Rajkot India, a ban is imposed on playing PUBG. The notification was issued last week and since then 10 people have been arrested for playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Most of the players arrested are undergraduate students that were arrested within the last two days. Police Commissioner Manoj Agrawal is the one who banned the game in the city through a notification on March 6. According to him, 12 cases are registered so far, however, it is a bailable offence. The case will go to the courts where a trial will take place for not following the notification. On Wednesday, the Rajkot Special Operations Group arrested three people near the HQ.
