Onrush, the new action-racing game from the creators behind MotorStorm and DriveClub, will come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on June 5, developer Codemasters announced today. Players will get a chance to try out Onrush for themselves in May, when Codemasters will hold an open beta. A new trailer for Onrush, included above, shows off the game’s gladiatorial racing action, which should appeal to fans of the MotorStorm series from the PlayStation 3 era. On Codemasters’ blog, the developer revealed that there will be eight vehicle classes in Onrush: Blade, Outlaw, Vortex, Charger, Interceptor, Dynamo, Titan and Enforcer. Each class has its own style, handling and abilities, Codemasters said. “These unique attributes will be key to RUSHing your team to victory, especially in online competition; where tactics are key,” the developer explained. “Some abilities are more tailored for the offensive minded – those of you who have a bit of rage built up and … [Read more...] about Onrush brings MotorStorm-like racing to PS4, Xbox One in June
The PlayStation Network mobile app is pretty darn terrible, and it seems like Sony has finally owned up to that. The company just launched a browser version of its PlayStation Network features, allowing members to access, edit and view their profiles without having to log into their consoles. My PlayStation is a sleek, easy-to-navigate site that grants full access to all the features you’d ever want to check on the go. I logged in and immediately could see my friends list and profiles, trophies collection and messages. There’s also a quick menu of who and who isn’t online — so if you’re not sure you want to turn on your PS4 just to find no one else is playing Monster Hunter: World right now, the website will give you the head’s up. The edit profile section also gives you quick access to some important settings, like checking to see if your two-factor authentication is set up and switching up your profile picture if you’re bored of it. The one … [Read more...] about You can now view, edit PlayStation Network profiles on the web
PlayStation’s MLB The Show franchise has, for more than a decade, been one of the most consistently praised titles in sports video gaming. It still has blind spots, and broadcast presentation has been a big one compared to peers licensed by the other big leagues. This latest video from Sony San Diego says the game is shoring that up with new elements. Mark DeRosa, the former pro and current analyst on MLB Network’s MLB Central morning recap show, joins the MLB The Show 18 broadcast. More importantly, according to this trailer he recorded some of his dialogue alongside booth partners Matt Vasgersian and Dan Plesac (who are also MLB Network personalities). In other words, he didn’t just go into a booth and recite lines by himself. 2K Sports made this a priority in its broadcast presentation a generation ago, and EA Sports’ Madden NFL has done it since 2012. MLB The Show, it seems, has finally caught on. That pushes out Harold Reynolds after just one year on the … [Read more...] about MLB The Show 18 promises improvement in its weakest area: the broadcast
I saw Way of the Passive Fist at Day of the Devs last year, and came away impressed by its original take on the 2D fighter genre. Now the game has a release date in early March, and a launch trailer. It’s a love letter to early-’90s brawlers, but there’s a major departure point. Players do not have offensive moves, only defensive. Parries and counters are far more important than brazen attacks. It’s up to you to wear down opponents, before knocking them out with a feather-light touch. According to developer Jason Canam, players must really learn how their opponents fight. “This isn’t your typical action arcade brawler since button mashing won’t get you far and it’s all about timing defensive moves,” said Canam. Way of the Passive Fist from Household Games will be available for PlayStation 4 on March 6 and for Windows PC and Xbox One on March 7. … [Read more...] about Unusual fighter Way of the Passive Fist coming next month
Metal Gear Survive, the survival-focused spinoff of the Metal Gear Solid series, comes to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One this week on Tuesday, Feb. 20. But don’t expect a review of the game on launch day (or anytime soon), because while reviewers received code last week, the game was unplayable without a required software update. Konami said in an email to reviewers last week that the game’s servers won’t be live until launch. That means the game hasn’t been available to play, as Metal Gear Survive requires a constant internet connection. I’ll be playing Metal Gear Survive for review, and there’s no embargo on that review (which should be somewhat obvious, since reviewers will start playing the game around the same time the public gets access to it). In the meantime, you can read our previous coverage of the game from E3 2017 and from a more recent, lengthier hands-on session with the game if you’re curious about the mechanics. Finally, … [Read more...] about Where’s Polygon’s Metal Gear Survive review?
Without a doubt, PlayStation fans have plenty of exciting PS4 exclusive games to look forward to in 2018, but the fan-favorite titles The Last of Us: Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima have yet to be given official release dates for the platform. Be that as it is, should a recent post on the official PlayStation Sweden Facebook page be accurate, then both of the aforementioned games could wind up launching this year. As seen below in the screenshot of a post from the official PlayStation Sweden Facebook page from earlier in the week, a translation of a video’s description states that The Last of Us: Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima will make this an “incredible PlayStation year.” Naturally, this is far from confirmation that either of the titles will have launches in 2018, as regional social media accounts aren’t exempt from getting information wrong. Nevertheless, the fact that the games are mentioned alongside other projects with confirmed release dates for this year … [Read more...] about The Last of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima to Release This Year?
