After PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds became a worldwide phenomenon on PC, smashing various Steam concurrent user records in the process, Microsoft was quick to secure it as a console exclusive for the Xbox One. After spending quite a bit of time in early access, the game that popularized the battle royale genre had its full release earlier this month, but now it seems like it may be making its way over to the Xbox One’s main competitor, the PlayStation 4. A Twitter user by the name of Nibel spotted PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds listed for PlayStation 4, suggesting that an announcement could be right around the corner. If PUBG is in fact making its way to PS4, it will likely skip the early access period (PS4 lacks a comprehensive early access program like on PC and Xbox), or it will be available in early access for a shorter time than its Xbox counterpart, at least. Of course, that’s just speculation at this time, and it’s hard to say … [Read more...] about PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Finally Coming to PS4?
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has alleged that cross-platform games will be a fixture in the future. The head of Rockstar Games’ parent company gave his thoughts on how the video game industry would move forward with cross-party titles, and he claimed that it was only a matter of time before it was commonplace. “Eventually I think we will be in a cross-platform world, for a lot of titles,” Strauss Zelnick explained during the 27th annual Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference (via GameSpot). “Certainly, between console and PC.” Cross-platform games have emerged in the past couple of years, with Microsoft leading the charge with its “Play Anywhere” titles on Xbox One and PC. Zelnick admitted that Microsoft was “basically already there” with this idea, and he expected other video game console developers to follow suit. Zelnick also stated his case for a breakdown in “system walls” that would see gamers’ … [Read more...] about Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick Claims Cross-Platform Games are the Future
MICROSOFT is testing a rogue pop-up that warns users not to use web browsers from rivals. The notice appears for Windows users when they try to install the Google Chrome or Mozille Firefox browsers. Instead of completing your download, it prompts you to open Microsoft Edge, the default browser for Windows 10. The message reads: "You already have Microsoft Edge – the safer, faster browser for Windows 10." There's then a big blue button that says "Open Microsoft Edge" and a smaller grey button that says "Install anyway". Below that is a message that says "Don't want to be warned in the future? Open settings." It's a creepy tactic by Microsoft to get you to stick with its own browser – rather than run off to the competition. That's no surprise: just 4.24% of desktop PCs use Microsoft Edge, compared to 67.63% for Chrome and 10.97% for Firefox. Microsoft's dodgy pop-up was first spotted by The Verge, and later confirmed to The Sun. Speaking to The Sun, a Microsoft spokesperson … [Read more...] about Microsoft is warning users not to install rival Google Chrome or Firefox web browsers on Windows
