A couple of days ago, Turtle Rock Studios surprised everyone with the announcement of Back 4 Blood, a spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead that promises to move the co-op zombie shooter genre forward. While Back 4 Blood is clearly looking to fill the void left by the lack of Left 4 Dead 3, it remains to be seen just how similar it will be to the franchise that inspired it, and it’s unclear exactly which features will carry over. One such feature that’s up in the air is couch co-op, which was a staple of the Left 4 Dead games. The Left 4 Dead games notably supported couch co-op as well as split-screen online functionality, giving gamers a wide range of options when playing with friends. Left 4 Dead
Fans have been waiting nearly a decade for Left 4 Dead 3, and while nothing has been announced on that front, Turtle Rock Studios is stepping up to fill that void. Turtle Rock, the studio behind the original Left 4 Dead, has announced a new co-op zombie shooter called Back 4 Blood, and while details are scarce, an FAQ on the game offers some more information on what fans can expect from the upcoming game. Back 4 Blood will have both a campaign as well as PvP elements. It’s unclear if the campaign and PvP will be distinct and separate, or if they will blend together like we saw in the Left 4 Dead games. Microsoft just keeps on improving the Xbox One backward compatibility list, this time around by improving a handful of games from of the industry’s most heralded developers. Today, Microsoft announced that four of Valve’s most popular games of all-time have now been enhanced for Xbox One X platform holders. The games in question include Portal, The Orange Box, Left 4 Dead, and Left 4 Dead 2, all of which were previously available for play on Xbox One via the backward compatibility program. Today’s update just further enhances their graphical capabilities for those who own Microsoft’s premium Xbox One. It’s a small update in the grand scheme of things, but I absolutely love that games from yesteryear continue to receive this treatment on Xbox One X. Frankly speaking, it is nowhere near in sight, at least for now but it just might be in development. Turtle Rock is working on an unannounced AAA game from a renowned franchise. A user on ResetEra came upon a job listing, which seems to have stirred a lot of unrest among the gamers. Apparently Turtle Rock the creators of Left 4 Dead are looking to hire a Senior Level Designer who will be working on “an Unannounced AAA title”. At the moment Turtle Rock has not officially announced this AAA title, so not sure what it may be. Of course, a lot of speculations are already in the atmosphere. Left 4 Dead developer Turtle Rock Studios has gone through rocky times in the past couple of years. Its most recent title, Evolve, turned out to be a somewhat unworthy follow-up to the company’s Left 4 Dead franchise, which remains popular as ever. Gamers have been clamoring for a proper Left 4 Dead 3 title, and it looks like that might become a reality. A job listing reveals that the developer is working on an unannounced title, which sounds suspiciously like it could be Left 4 Dead 3.
