report this adThere’s no doubt that myriad gamers the world over are familiar with the classic Konami code made popular by the company’s original Contra game, as the code has not only become a common pop culture reference, but also has been used as a secret to find in a wide variety of different websites. Now, it has recently been discovered that the American toy manufacturer Fisher-Price has used the famous cheat code as an Easter egg in its new toy controller for kids. As seen in the tweet below from Chris Scullion, the games journalist bought Fisher-Price’s FWG12 Game and Learn Controller for his daughter, and decided to see if inputting the Konami code–up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A–would elicit some kind of response. Lo and behold, it actually triggers several different video game-related sounds and ends with the controller saying, “You win!”As indicated above, the Fisher-Price toy in question appears to be modeled … [Read more...] about Konami Contra Code Easter Egg Found in Fisher-Price Toy Controller
Not too long ago, Sony Interactive Entertainment decided to have its annual PlayStation Store Holiday Sale go live for 2018, with the tech firm offering deep discounts on a wide variety of video games for its PS4, PS3, and PS Vita platforms. Amid the deals are some that Metal Gear Solid fans may not be able to pass up, as the prices for a majority of the titles from the classic stealth-action series have now been heavily marked down through the digital marketplace. As seen in the screenshots of the PlayStation Store below, there are a lot of great savings to be had on a bunch of different entries from the long-running Metal Gear Solid series, with one of the better offers being the 20% price reduction on Metal Gear Solid 5: The Definitive Experience. For those who have yet to play what is the last MGS project helmed by Hideo Kojima before his split with Konami, $16 is practically a steal for the package, as it includes MGS5: Ground Zeroes, MGS5: The Phantom Pain, and access to Metal … [Read more...] about Metal Gear Solid Series Heavily Discounted on PlayStation Store
With rampant rumors and speculation of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds finally arriving to the PlayStation 4, the apparent response from Microsoft, possibly a coincidence, is making PUBG free on Xbox One for a limited time. Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 will also be free-to-play at the same time, leading up to the X018 event this weekend. Some Xbox One users should be able to download the games starting today, although the officially announced period is from November 8 to 11. I myself am able to access PUBG page on the Xbox Marketplace website, with the game installing on my console at the time of this writing. Microsoft has promised some PUBG-related news for X018, but with the game only being free the weekend of the event, a possible, permanent free-to-play announcement to gain excitement for their version of the popular battle royale game seems unlikely. At the very least, the team behind PUBG is still adding bold new content like, uh, skins based on the Suicide Squad movie … [Read more...] about PUBG and PES 2019 Are Getting a Free Weekend on Xbox One
This time of year is perfect for turning off the lights and putting on a scary game. For many folks, P.T., the “playable teaser” for a since-canned Silent Hills installment, more than fits the bill on Halloween night. Unfortunately, a report is circulating that claims a new patch is locking the P.T. application and keeping players from opening the application. Reddit user PopulusTrichocapra first reported on the issue on r/SilentHill, leaving a screenshot as proof of their claims. The screen grab indeed shows that the user’s P.T. application had last been updated 10/22 to version 1.01. Beneath the thumbnail is the icon indicating that an application is locked and unplayable. What’s interesting is that other users aren’t experiencing the issue and are having trouble finding version 1.01.As multiple comments state in the Reddit thread, version 1.00 appears to be the latest update. Game Rant had no issue booting up the game and did not receive a prompt to … [Read more...] about Silent Hills PT Demo Unplayable After Secret Patch?
Folks on the Internet began freaking out this afternoon when word began quickly spreading that Konami’s P.T., the demo for the now-canceled Silent Hills, was being patched with a new 1.01 update that would officially lock out those who still own the game. Before you know it, these stories made their way to the biggest platforms on the Internet–examples from Reddit and Twitter— and began spreading the message that P.T. was finally dead, even for those that had harbored the game away on their hard drives before its removal from the PlayStation Store in 2015. With how much of a punching bag Konami has become in recent years, it was easy for many to jump to the conclusion that this story was 100% true, even without verifying it for themselves. And that’s the problem with this story as of now: it very well might not be true. What’s my proof? Well, I’m looking at P.T. right now on my TV in front of me. Yes, if there is a … [Read more...] about Is This P.T. Disabling Update a Cause for Concern or a Halloween Hoax?
