The Pokemon European International Championship took place this past weekend in Berlin, Germany, with professional Pokemon players hoping to win enough points to qualify for the World Championships in August. The Pokemon European International Championship has been the scene of some drama in the past, like when pro Pokemon players were punished for strange reasons, but this time, the drama is due to one player being unable to handle a loss. In the finals of the Junior Division championship, Latin American Champion Justin Miranda-Radbord took on Teddy French. The two battled to a sudden death round, where French was able to defeat Miranda-Radbord. Miranda-Radbord, who has been largely successful in the pro Pokemon circuit, didn’t take kindly to the loss, throwing a tantrum that saw him slamming his hands on the table and throwing things. One of the referees tried to stop Miranda-Radbord’s tantrum and calm him down, but to no avail. Eventually, the camera cut … [Read more...] about Pro Pokemon Player Throws Tantrum After Losing Championship Game
Pokemon fans have plenty to be hyped about right now, especially with Pokemon: Detective Pikachu‘s theatrical release just around the corner. Now, two new Pokemon plush toys from the long-running game series are being released at Build-a-Bear Workshop, joining an existing lineup of Pokemon favorites. Build-a-Bear Workshop has unveiled two new Pokemon plush toys: Psyduck and Snubbull. The two base plush toys are sold separately, starting at $32 each. Of course, it wouldn’t be Build-a-Bear without the option for customizations, and both characters have a good amount of optional accessories to add on. Psyduck can be picked up along with a Psyduck Raincoat, Luxury Ball Hoodie, Build-a-Bear TCG Psyduck card, and a 6-in-1 sound effects chip for a total cost of $65. Ever since Nintendo’s official announcement of Pokemon Sword and Shield, fans have been digging through leaked evolutions (mostly fakes), a new Bug-type Pokemon, region rumors, and more to get as much detail ahead of time as possible. The latest rumor to hit the internet, however, is that the new gen 8 games will contain a fan-favorite feature in the form of partner Pokemon. For clarification, partner Pokemon are those who travel beside trainers outside the traditional Pokeballs. This was first introduced back in Pokemon Yellow, when Pikachu would follow the trainer around, and has appeared in a few games since including Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver as well as the recent Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee. As with all rumors, it’s best to take this news with a grain of salt, but this rumor has more official backing than most rumors/leaks currently out there. But the origins of this rumor come from a since-deleted Pokemon Sword and … [Read more...] about Pokemon Sword and Shield to Have Partner Pokemon Feature?
A Japanese trademark has set off speculation regarding a popular Pokemon Sword and Shield rumor. The Pokemon fansite PokeJungle spotted a Game Freak, Creatures Inc, and Nintendo trademark for “Armored Mewtwo” reserved across movies, toys, and video games. The discovery of the trademark has led to confusion regarding whether Armored Mewtwo refers to the upcoming Pokemon movie Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution, a Pokemon Trading Card Game product, or a leak claiming that Pokemon Sword and Shield would be adding a new Armored Evolutions feature. In late February, prior to the announcement of Pokemon Sword and Shield, an anonymous leaker posted on 4chan regarding the upcoming game. They confirmed the names as well as its regional setting of Great Britain, both of which are now confirmed. The leaker also said that Pokemon Sword and Shield will have a new Armored Evolutions feature, which will include new armored forms for Charizard, Flygon, Zeraora, and Mewtwo. An Armored Mewtwo … [Read more...] about Pokemon Sword and Shield Mewtwo Trademark Hints at Armored Evolutions
So-called Pokemon Sword and Shield “leaks” are plentiful, just weeks after Nintendo officially announced the Nintendo Switch exclusive games. So far, the most impressive leaks have already been proven wrong, ranging from the Scorbunny “Rocket-Bun” evolution to a new generation of fakes from the artist of Popplio’s “Ballio” evolution. But a new Bug Pokemon leak may be 2019’s first real one, or otherwise one of the most impressive “Fakemon” ever fabricated. The leaked Pokemon is in the shape of a spiked nutshell, but with a large toothed beak. It has four dragonfly-like wings and six bright white segmented legs. Perhaps the Pokemon‘s most charming features are its eyes, which are dark outlined and half-lidded with a ligh yellow iris. The eye also has a divot to it, making it seem like the bug Pokemon is tearing up. Pokemon fans are already describing it as a sad Pokemon, perfect to go alongside sad starter … [Read more...] about Pokemon Sword and Shield Bug Pokemon Leaks
