Today, the London Spitfire defeated the Los Angeles Gladiators twice giving them a spot against the Los Angeles Valiant in the Semifinals. Last Wednesday, we saw the Gladiators sweep the London Spitfire giving hope to the home crowd at the Blizzard Arena. Everything was looking good for LA with the potential to see another crosstown matchup, this time with bigger cards on the table. However, from what we’ve seen today, the London Spitfire learned from their mistakes on Wednesday sweeping the LA Gladiators not once but twice. In the first game, things were fairly competitive as we saw the Gladiators potentially prolonging the game in overtime almost making it to that second point. London was able to push LA off the payload and win the map 2-1. From then on, London took the rest of the map wins for the match bringing the series record to 1-1. With the Spitfire in good form, the third and final match was looking really interesting. Wednesday, we saw the Gladiators outplay the … [Read more...] about London Spitfire Will Proceed to the Overwatch League Semifinals
The Philadelphia Fusion have proven themselves as a team to really watch out for, pulling out a win against the Boston Uprising giving them a spot in the Semifinals of the Overwatch League Inaugural Season Playoffs. On Wednesday, the Fusion was able to get grab the first match win by simply outplaying the Boston Uprising. There were some competitive moments between the two east coast teams in games three and four but it was the Fusion who really showed up that day and grabbed three wins while the Uprising only grabbed one. Yesterday, the two teams finished their series off finally moving a team up to the Semifinals. The second match went to Boston Uprising winning three out of the four matches. With that win, and since Boston was the third seed in this year’s Overwatch League Playoffs, it seemed the Uprising would be the team to move forward. That was not the case. Seong-Hyun Bang, also known as the Overwatch League support player Jjonak, is the Overwatch League’s most valuable player for the inaugural season. Back in May, we brought you coverage of a new Overwatch skin that was being used to raise money for charity, specifically to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Now, several weeks after that event has ended, the Pink Mercy charity money has been totaled to $12.7 million. Early in the event’s lifetime, there was some concern that Sony would be skimming profits off of the Pink Mercy charity money in a similar manner to the same sort of controversy that happened with Middle-earth: Shadow of War, but it seems like there was nothing to this particular rumor and the BCRF is going to be getting all of the money that Blizzard raised. The Pink Mercy skin was the only skin intended to be used for the program, and allowed players to buy the skin priced at $15. And, apparently, despite how expensive it was for just one skin, the Overwatch player community didn’t let Blizzard down. And, in addition to the nearly 13 million dollars that the skin alone raised, … [Read more...] about Pink Mercy Charity Money Totaled, Players Raised 12.7 Million Dollars
Blizzard has unlocked a new chapter in the campaign teasing, well, something new for Overwatch. The first one of these was much less exciting. Revealed on Friday, the initial teaser showed what looked to be a location in the UK, with many in-world Overwatch lore references. It was practically a static image, though, so it wasn’t especially clear what was supposed to be the focus. Today’s teaser is similarly brief, but instead shows a ball quickly rolling through the same scene from last week’s trailer. Here is the video Blizzard shared: It’s looking more likely that we’re looking at hero 28. It’s not clear if the new hero itself can roll into a ball like Samus, or if that’s one of their attacks – perhaps an ultimate ability. We’ll need to see more, but the consensus is still on it being Hammond. Expect a new teaser for hero 28 to drop soon, and we’ll be here to tell you about it. … [Read more...] about Is this Overwatch’s new hero rolling in?
