(@Jeopardy) November 22, 2019 Fans just can’t stop lamenting the loss of Iron Man after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Now, even Jeopardy! is getting in on the act with today’s episode. The popular program decided to dedicate an entire category to the quips that came to delight fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A category called “Nicknames From Tony Stark” was knocked down in short order after it was unveiled earlier this evening. It was quite surreal to hear Alex Trebek say things like “Tony’s name for this Web-Slinging hero is Underoos” or “Hawkeye gets this moniker of a Lord of the Rings archer.” The results are nothing less than comical, but give these contestants credit for knocking down each … [Read more...] about Jeopardy! By Megan Peters - May 1, 2019 02:11 pm EDT Share 2 Comments 2 The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a big place, and it is only getting bigger. Thanks to Avengers: Endgame, much of the franchise’s first decade has come to a close, but the film did leave a few tantalizing tidbits behind... and one of them has to do with Sebastian Stan himself. You know, since the actor totally exists as himself in the MCU. Beware! There are mild spoilers for Avengers: Endgame below! You have been warned! As fans will recall, the latest installment of the MCU has lots to do with time travel. Avengers: Endgame follows the heroes who survived Thanos’ snap as they try coping with what happened. By JK Schmidt - October 25, 2019 03:42 pm EDT Share 0 Comments 0 Now that Avengers: Endgame has come and gone, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe can reflect on the first decade of storytelling in the sprawling franchise — and all of it began with Robert Downey Jr. bringing Tony Stark to life in Iron Man. But the armored Avenger sacrificed his own life in order to save the world in the Marvel Studios movie, wielding the power of the Infinity Stones to stop the invasion of the Mad Titan Thanos and his armies. But that wasn't the only plan for killing off Iron Man. According to a new interview with Avengers: Endgame editor Jeff Ford, who came up with the iconic final line of "And I am Iron Man," they filmed a few different versions of Tony Stark's death before settling on the take that made it into the final film. "The way Robert works is, he sometimes likes to explore," Ford told Collider. "He likes to try different things. And because he’s an … [Read more...] about Avengers: Endgame Editor Reveals Other “Crazy” Alternate Deaths For Iron Man
The Double-A Team is a newish feature series honouring the unpretentious, mid-budget, gimmicky commercial action games that no-one seems to make any more. Check out our archive of Double-A pieces here! What does Quentin Tarantino truly love? Bare feet, sure, but let's not get into that. His other big obsession is 1970s grindhouse cinema, that vast reservoir of zero-budget C-movies that all seem to promise violence, gore or some sort of corrupting wickedness. The best of these slapdash quickies thrum with a disreputable energy. Most are charmless and unwatchable. The trailers - lurid, voiceover-heavy and mercifully short - are usually the best part. In 2007, Tarantino and his buddy Robert Rodriguez channelled the ghost of drive-ins past for Grindhouse, an uncouth double-bill of throwback movies. This was a lovingly-crafted three-hour exultation of trash that somehow cost $70million to make. It absolutely belly-flopped at the US box office. Perhaps it was all just too much for the … [Read more...] about The Double-A Team: In bullet ballet Wet, grindhouse got a glow up
