Mario Kart Tour has been such a mystery since Nintendo has been surprisingly tight-lipped about their upcoming mobile release. Thankfully, the recently released beta test on Android answered a lot of questions and alleviated many of my fears surrounding it. While Nintendo is still being restrictive about images and videos from the beta (which is why all the images here are from other Mario Kart games), four hours of playtime has revealed that this latest entry in the long-running series holds up the legacy from its console counterparts quite well. But quite a few changes have been made to fit the arcade racer on to mobile phones. The biggest aspect to get used to is that it has touch-based controls. That might seem like a horrible idea, and I definitely had reservations when I started, but it actually works pretty well. The player automatically accelerates (which was also an option in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe) and then steers their kart by moving their thumb to the left or right. … [Read more...] about Mario Kart Tour looks like the best Nintendo mobile game yet
A couple of months ago, a gag petition to add Scooby-Doo’s Shaggy to Mortal Kombat 11 took on a life of its own, perpetuated by the viral Shaggy memes which depicted him as a godlike entity. The virality of the memes has since died down, and while Shaggy will never officially be added to Mortal Kombat 11, he has appeared in a few fighting games via mods. Jump Force got a Shaggy mod some time ago, but the latest to get its own Shaggy mod is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Thanks to Demonslayerx8, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players can get their hands on Shaggy and try out his power against a myriad of characters such as the Duck Hunt Duo, Link, Samus, Pikachu, and so many more. Those who are interested in the mod should know that it is currently only available for his Patron supporters and his Discord server, but there will be a public release of this mod on June 7, 2019. Demonslayerx8 posted some occasional updates on his Twitter about his progress making this mod including UI … [Read more...] about Crazy Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Mod Adds Shaggy from Scooby-Doo
Dead Island 2 was first announced all the way back at Sony’s E3 2014 presentation, where its trailer was met with a positive response from fans excited to see more open world zombie-killing action. We were then treated to a Dead Island 2 gameplay demo not long after, but then momentum for the game fell off a cliff, and we haven’t seen anything substantial about it for years. Fans could be forgiven for assuming Dead Island 2 was canceled, but apparently that’s not the case, and the game is still coming out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. This was revealed by THQ Nordic CEO Lars Wingefors (THQ partly owns Deep Silver, the publisher of Dead Island 2), when he was talking about the company’s upcoming games. Unfortunately, all Wingefors confirmed was that Dead Island 2 is still in development and that fans should stay tuned for more information. Wingefors gave no indication as to how far along in development Dead Island 2 is at this … [Read more...] about Is Dead Island 2 Still Coming Out?
Supermassive Games made a name for itself with 2015’s Until Dawn, a critically-acclaimed horror game that earned a great deal of praise for how its choices genuinely impacted the narrative. Supermassive’s next game will feature the same style of gameplay as Until Dawn, and it finally has a release date. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan will launch for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on August 30, 2019. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan release date was announced with a new trailer for the game. The trailer highlights that choices will once again play a major role in the gameplay, with players taking control of various characters on a ghost ship this time around. Just like Until Dawn, every character in The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan has the potential to live or die by the time the game comes to an end. From what we’ve seen of the game so far, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan seems like it will greatly … [Read more...] about Horror Game The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan Gets Release Date
The beta for Nintendo’s mobile racing game is here and it seems like Mario Kart Tour microtransactions are pretty bad, according to various people posting online. Several users in the beta report that the game makes use of a gacha system to unlock things in the game and some mechanics give rare racers an advantage. Mario Kart Tour is Nintendo’s latest foray into the world of mobile gaming. It’s a highly anticipated title that many fans were looking forward to playing considering the success of games like Super Mario Run and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. However, Nintendo’s partners in their mobile ventures had previously expressed frustration with the lack of monetization options for mobile titles and it seems like the parent company has finally relented, allowing the use of more severe Mario Kart Tour microtransactions. “Looks like Mario Kart Tour beta is pretty hardcore with regards to monetization,” said Dr. Serkan … [Read more...] about Mario Kart Tour microtransactions are reportedly terrible
