Hello Games, the company behind No Man’s Sky, tonight unveiled a surprise new game, called The Last Campfire. According to Hello boss Sean Murray, the game is an adventure about “a lost ember trapped in a puzzling place, searching for meaning and a way home.” It’s set in a wilderness of “lost folk, strange creatures and mysterious ruins.” The Last Campfire is being created by Hello employees Chris Symonds and Steven Burgess, who previously madeLostWinds for Frontier Developments. That game, released a decade ago, is a cartoon platformer with puzzle elements. The game is being billed as a Hello Games Short. Murray said it’s like “Pixar shorts … a way to foster creativity and new voices.” Although a trailer has been released, no details have been shared by Hello on platforms or release date. No Man’s Sky is one of the most notable game releases of the past few years, and put Hello Games on the development map. Much hyped prior to launch, the space exploration game released in 2016 to general critical disappointment, and vociferous consumer pushback. But in the years since, it’s been improved markedly through various updates. Footage below.
