Pokemon GO Community Day CONFIRMED: Shiny Beldum News, Egg Hatch Bonus and more REVEALED (Pic: DS)
POKEMON GO COMMUNITY DAY OCTOBER CONFIRMED
26th September 2018 – The official Pokemon GO Twitter account and website has now confirmed that Beldum will be the headline Pokemon for the next community day event in October.
Though not mentioned we can assume that a Shiny Beldum will also become available on the day.
No details have been shared with regards to the special move available on the day. However, we do know that when the community day takes place on October 21st, there will be some pretty neat special rewards.
For instance, there will be the usual 3 hour Lures, but also the three-hour event will feature 1/4 Egg Hatch Distance.
Fantastic for anyone sitting on a pile of 10km eggs that need hatching in record time.
PSA: What with all the announcements surrounding the new Pokemon Meltan, the October Community Day still hasn’t been formally announced.
The Pokemon GO Community Day is a massive event in the mobile game’s monthly calendar, and although the previous August 2018 Community Day might have only just finished the next update for the game is, in theory, right around the corner.
Developer Niantic usually announces their plans for the next Pokemon Community Day just a few days after the conclusion of the last Community Day.
To date, we’ve had nine Community Day events so far involving Pikachu, Dratini, Bulbasaur, Mareep, Charmander, Lartivar, Squirtle, Eevee and most recently, Chikorita
We already know WHEN the next community day will be held, as Niantic already added a placeholder date of October 21st.
However, details surrounding which Pokemon will be headlining still aren’t 100% confirmed.
But, we do have a very good idea of which Pokemon will be available for the next big community day event.
First of all, it’s worth noting that typically, each month and community day has alternated between a starter Pokemon and a 10KM egg hatch as the Pokemon of choice.
The only real outlier to that rule of thumb is Eevee. But for the most part, it’s as good as a pattern as any.
Now, just a few days ago, just before Niantic announced the release of Deoxys as the next Ex-Raid Pokemon, fans found an image from the Pokemon GO website, confirming Bedlum as a Community Day Pokemon.
Coupled with the Silph Road Reddit team finding new effects related to Meteor Mash in the games v0.115.2 APK Update.
And for those wondering, Meteor Mash is a signature move of Beldum’s evolved form, Metacross. So, it seems to be pretty nailed on that Beldum - and a subsequent shiny - will be the Next Community Day Pokemon for October 2018.
Of course, it’s not 100% official until Niantic say so, but it feels as good as at this moment in time.
Feel free to read on for further details about the Pokemon GO community day from our main hub of info. Although at this time when it comes to October, there’s nothing more to add.
Pokemon GO Community Day – September Overview
Like most Community Day events in Pokemon GO, players will find a wealth of - whichever specific Pokemon is headlining the event – spawning in park areas.
But better still, if you’re lucky enough to evolve that Pokemon into the creature’s many forms during the duration of the event, it will learn a special move that’s only available for that month.
In the case of September with Chikorita there’s also a new special move in the case of Frenzy Plant. The special move is acquired in the same way as most Community Day special moves.
You simply need to fully evolve Chikorita into Meganium during the Community Day hours.
Any Chikorita evolved after that window, will not retain the move when evolved.
Pokemon GO Community Day – Start & End Times
The community day takes place around the world on one day each month with various start times based on your region.
Below you’ll find the details of the start times for the Pokemon GO Community Day Chikorita event for September so you know when it starts and finishes.
- Europe, Middle East, Africa, India: 10am to 1pm UK (BST), 11am to 2pm CET
- North America, South America and Greenland: 11am to 2pm PST, 2pm to 5pm EST
- Asia Pacific: 12pm to 3pm JST
It’s worth noting that unlike August, we’re returning to a single community day for September. Unlike August when trainers had a two day event for Eevee.
If you’re wondering why, it’s probably because of how many evolutions Eevee has and also the fact Umbreon and Espeon also require you to walk 10KM each in order to evolve them as well.
Will there be a new shiny?
Niantic NEVER confirms whether or not an event will include a shiny version of the Pokemon headlining a Community Day.
Given that so far every single Pokemon GO Community Day event to date has offered the chance to catch a shiny variant of Pokemon, we think it’s pretty nailed on that there will be a Shiny Chikorita in September.
For those who need reminding, a Shiny will not appear as shiny in the game until you enter the catch screen. Equally, the Pokemon which appear are random for each player.
So just because someone finds a shiny in the wild, it doesn’t mean it will also be shiny for you or anyone else playing around you.
In short, keep catching Community Day Pokemon until you happen to find a shiny. It’s potluck, but catching as many as possible will increase your chances!
Which team ‘won’ last month?
For an extra bit of fun and games, though it is largely meaningless, Niantic tracks how well teams performed during each Community Day.
They then release these stats to the community for all to see.
The August winners are yet to be announced. But in July, the winners, once again, were Team Mystic, followed by Team Valor, and then in last, Team Instinct.
You can see the winners of each Community Day event in the gallery below.
The Future of Community Day’s
This is an event which Niantic clearly loves.
It was made most evident during a Eurogamer interview with Niantic boss John Hanke, who was quick to praise the events possitive effect on the community.
“I think they’re great,” Hanke told Eurogamer, “I think we’ll do them forever. It was an interesting experiment – we’ve done lots of types of events, even going back to Ingress, but to do something worldwide all in the same day was new this year and it worked even better than we thought it would.
“It’s been a really nice discovery and a good way to do something with the community.”
There you have it. Start blocking out those weekend’s now because this event isn’t going to be canned anytime soon!
