Evildoers, beware! Because Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders , the new animated Batman feature that sees the return of Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin, will be getting a limited theatrical release. Those excited to see the revival of the 1960s version of Batman will surely be delighted by that fact, but there is a very limited window to catch the movie in theaters. One night only, to be exact.
Warner Bros. recently announced that Fathom Events will be handling the limited theatrical release of the movie, wich will be taking place on October 10 at theaters all around the country. There will be showings for Return of the Caped Crusaders at 2 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., so there are plenty of opportunities to catch Adam West back in action, well, at least the animated version of him anyway. This new animated feature will take the Batman franchise back to the 1960s and will be recapturing the spirit of the Batman TV series. Here is an official description of the movie to give fans an idea of what to expect.
“It’s back to the 1960s as Batman and Robin spring into action when Gotham City is threatened by a quartet of Batman’s most fiendish foes – Penguin, The Joker, Riddler and Catwoman. This time, the four Super-Villains have combined their wicked talents to hatch a plot so nefarious that the Dynamic Duo will need to go to outer space (and back) to foil their arch enemies and restore order in Gotham City. It’s a truly fantastic adventure that will pit good against evil, good against good, evil against evil … and feature two words that exponentially raise the stakes for both sides: Replicator Ray. Holy Multiplication Tables!”
Not only are Adam West and Burt Ward returning to lend their voices once again for their iconic roles, but Julie Newmar is also returning as the voice of Catwoman . While the movie will feature The Joker, The Riddler and The Penguin, their voices had to be recast because unfortunately Cesar Romero , Frank Gorshin and Burgess Meredith have all passed away. Those who attend a screening of Return of the Caped Crusaders will also be shown a new featurette about the influence of the Batman franchise’s villains, titled Those Dastardly Desperados . As if any Batman fans needed more reason to go.
Rick Morales ( LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes – Justice League: Cosmic Clash ) directed the movie from a script by Michael Jelenic ( Teen Titans Go! ) and James Tucker ( Justice League vs. Teen Titans ). The movie is set to make its debut at New York Comic-Con on October 6, with a digital release scheduled for October 11 and the Blu-ray to follow a few weeks later on November 1. Tickets for the Fathom Events screenings of Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders are on sale now.
