Martha Stewart is no Paula Deen. Instead of buttering up her foods, Stewart’s been slowly buttering up the public, introducing a new side of herself that’s light and friendly.
A source tells [email protected] that over the past four months, the domestic diva has made a conscious effort to wear shorter skirts and say funnier things in an attempt to show people that it’s not just her oven that gets warm — and she’s enlisting the help of Bravo’s Andy Cohen to help with the makeover.
We’re told in early June, when Stewart, 71, held a talk at the 92nd Y in New York, she had one request — that Cohen ask the questions.

Martha Stewart finds both Mayor Mike Bloomberg (left) and Bill Gates attractive.
“This is Martha’s big comeback, and she wants to show a whole new side of herself,” a Bravo insider says about the relationship brewing between Stewart and the network. “She doesn’t want a talk show, she wants to show the real her. Something like ‘The Wonderful World of Martha’ is what she’s looking for.”
At that interview, Cohen got Stewart to play “Shag, Marry, Kill,” a naughty game where you have to choose whether you sleep with, marry, or off a celebrity. After he suggested Donald Trump, Mike Bloomberg and Bill Gates, Stewart laughed.
“Trump kill. Bloomberg marry, definitely. And I would do Gates,” she replied.
She also admitted that she has sexted. When asked if she had ever had a threesome, she replied, “Maybe.”
Our source adds that in May, after Stewart had posted a personal ad on the dating site Match.com, she realized how much positive feedback she got just by opening up and showing she had a softer side.
“She’s trying to reinvent herself and realizes maybe the new Martha can appear approachable,” the source said. “Bethenny (Frankel) for 10 years had been chasing Martha and now Martha sees that reality TV can make you successful.” Frankel has said that she modeled her career after Stewart’s.
The source adds that off camera Stewart can be “hilarious.”
“There’s a sassy side to her. Her favorite phrase when she doesn’t like something is, ‘That’s disgusting.’”
Bravo, with Cohen’s help, has churned out star after star and he’s hoping to make Stewart over into a fuzzy personality on a reality-like show that delves into her personal life in a way we’ve never seen.
“He loves legends and strong women, if he can rope in Martha with a hit project it only helps him,” says our insider.
The duo’s relationship is tighter than ever. Wednesday, Stewart appeared on Cohen’s chat show, “Watch What Happens Live” and even loosened up enough to spank him on his butt with a paddle.
Stewart’s last attempt at TV was her daytime show, “The Martha Stewart Show” which was canceled in April 2012.
“Her studio on 26th St. was magnificent but the show was rigid and boring,” says our source. “She doesn’t want to be that anymore.”

Maggie Gyllenhaal’s character in “White House Down” was hot for Channing Tatum.
MAGGIE AT YOUR SERVICE
Maggie Gyllenhaal plays a smart, sexy Secret Service agent in “White House Down,” but at a party celebrating her Gotham magazine cover at STK in the Meatpacking District, she gave [email protected] more insight into her character. “She’s just like the rest of us girls who are professional and capable, but also overwhelmed and exhausted and human, and she’s hot for Channing Tatum.” Gyllenhaal looked gorgeous in a feathered Dries van Noten dress and carried an Alexander McQueen bag.
Jaden Smith (right) and Kylie Jenner take in a movie together in California and definitely seem to be an item.
KYLIE + JADEN
Oh, to be young, famous, rich, and in love. Kylie Jenner, 15, and Jaden Smith, 14, have been an under-the-radar item for a few months now, but it looks like their badly kept secret is out. The couple were spotted holding hands after a screening of “World War Z” at the Calabasas Commons movie theater in California. Once the paparazzi appeared, Jenner reportedly dropped Smith’s hand like a hot potato, but only after getting caught mid-PDA.

Courtney Love hoofs it around SoHo in shoes that seem, well, a little worse for the wear.
THE HOLE TRUTH
She isn’t quite the old lady who lived in a shoe (yet), but Courtney Love’s black ankle boots certainly look a little too lived in. While strolling through SoHo on Wednesday, the singer wore a gold bohemian dress, flesh-colored socks, and a stray black bra strap on full display. But unlike the ripped booties, visible lingerie is a look Love has been rocking for decades. We can only hope that she has a fully intact pair of shoes somewhere in her kooky closet.
BROKE BUT NOT BROKEN
“Gossip Girl” star Kelly Rutherford, who just filed for bankruptcy, is still in good spirits, a source tells [email protected] After spending a mountain of cash on her expensive custody battle with her ex-husband Daniel Giersch, Rutherford had her kids Helena Grace, 3, and Hermes Gustaf, 5, with her this week. They currently live in France with Giersch. “She is holding her head up, she is the sweetest woman,” a source said.
THE GUTTENBERG BICEP
Lookin’ good, Guttenberg. “3 Men and a Little Lady” star Steve Guttenberg stayed in shape Thursday morning by taking a spin class at the upper West Side’s Reebok Sports Club. For those of you who may have forgotten, the 54-year-old Brooklyn native was the actor from the “Three Men” franchise who wasn’t Ted Danson or Tom Selleck.
They’re feeding Matt Damon. Insiders at the Meatpacking District’s STK steakhouse feasted their eyes on the actor as he took his wife Luciana Barroso and a few pals for a bite Wednesday night. “(They) finished off their meal with a table of desserts including bread pudding, peanut butter cups and doughnuts,” says one tipster. Damon was also overheard boasting to a pal about his first place Boston Red Sox. Someone may want to remind the “Promised Land” star that no one’s ever won a World Series in June.
Takeru Kobayashi has had it with Nathan’s and is promoting his own eating event.
I’M STILL HERE, DOG-GONE-IT
Power-eater and weiner whiner Takeru Kobayashi still has a beef with Nathan’s Hot Dog eating champion Joey Chestnut, who took away his sausage gobbling title in 2007 by downing 66 dogs and never looked back. In a passive-aggressive press release saying, “No need to venture to Coney Island this year to watch the July 4th Hot Dog Eating Contest,” Kobayashi’s camp announced he’ll be holding his own competition at Chelsea’s Eventi Hotel plaza. Chestnut will defend his title for a seventh straight year on Coney Island.

Allison Janney remembers one of the best kisses of her life.
JANNEY’S ‘WAY BACK’ LOVE
The love story unfolding in actress Allison Janney’s real life could be called an oldie but goodie. At the Wednesday premiere of her new film “The Way, Way Back,” Janney told us she hopes to follow up on a summer of love that happened 40 years ago.
“I think the summer I had my first kiss was definitely one of my best. I was 13 or 14,” recalls the 53-year-old actress. “It was a really good French kiss. It was my first French kiss on the beach and it was fantastic. We only had that summer. We lived in different states. It was pretty magical.”
Janney now tells us she’s back in touch with that excellent kisser, whom she won’t identify by name.
“I know where he is,” she says. “We’re supposed to go on a hike soon.”
Janney thinks that old flame is single now and she wouldn’t mind finishing what she started all those years ago.
“That would be kinda cool,” says Janney. “That would be really cool.”
Also attending the premiere were Toni Collette, AnnaSophia Robb and Steve Carell.
LPGA star Cristie Kerr wasn’t able to swing a club at the Hamptons Golf Classic on Monday due to tendinitis but she did lend a hand to founder Zev Norotsky, who presented the Southampton Hospital with a check for $10,000. Kerr was joined by Jets center Nick Mangold and NBC’s Jane Hanson at the Hamptons magazine and BMW-sponsored event.
GRETA TAKES AIM AT CNN
Fox News anchor Greta Van Susteren has slammed the direction CNN’s news coverage has taken under Jeff Zucker’s direction. “I think now as CNN goes a little softer I wonder if they are forgetting that what they were successful at was delivering the news,” she told the “Larry King Now” program on Ora Tv.
“If you are going to spend the money for a helicopter over a disabled cruise ship, if you’ve got that kinda cash, why not spend it to send people to the Nuba Mountains.”
